Its title may sound like a dish served at a grisly Thanksgiving dinner, but Ankle Soup, a new picture book set in Grand Central, is much more savory. In the story, Carlos the French bulldog (accompanied by his mistress) cabs it to the busy depot and navigates the Turkey Day rush at tibia height. Along the way the pup--rendered in lush oils by illustrator Alison Josephs--encounters the legs of identically dressed triplets, a happily reunited young couple, and other human and canine holiday travelers. It's an ankle-eye view of the turkey day rush from man's best friend.--Carolyn Juris
