I’d Like the Goo-Gen-Heim

A little boy asks for a big birthday present in this 1970 reissue.

You may find your kid’s birthday wish list extravagant, but at least she never asked for an entire art museum. That’s just what Andy, a youngster whose lost balloon leads him to Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic cupcake-shaped structure, requests in A.C. Hollingsworth’s I’d Like the Goo-Gen-Heim (Guggenheim Museum, $15). Long out of print, the 1970 gem was reissued after a copy turned up at a library sale. Model your family’s trip to the museum after Andy’s: Take the elevator to the top and wind your way down the ramp. Then snag a copy of the book in the gift shop on your way out.
