Winner Bubby’s
In the era of culinary risk-takers like Wylie Dufresne and David Burke, this cozy restaurant, whose edgiest menu offering is Texas-style brisket, doesn’t look like a trendsetter. But since its inception 16 years ago, that’s exactly what Bubby’s Pie Company has been. Owner Ron Silver says that he originally “wanted to set the standard in family dining in America. But we were using Denny’s and Cracker Barrel as the bar.” Well, mission accomplished, and then some.
This Tribeca haunt, which opened a second location in Dumbo in 2003, not only achieved its aim of broadening New Yorkers’ expectations of a child-friendly restaurant but helped popularize brunch here as well. Even now, few places can compete with Bubby’s fluffy sour- cream pancakes, buttermilk biscuits or cheesy grits.

And don’t forget...Good
This aptly named West Village restaurant competes with a ton of kid-friendly places nearby, but none offers the heavenly warm and cakey orange doughnuts that’ll put your kids off Krispy Kreme permanently.
