BASEBALL
Challenger Baseball with Downtown Little League, Financial District Aut/Dev/Phys; ages 5 to 13
Taking her nine-year-old typical son, Sam, to baseball games was starting to wear on Heather Damon: She wound up spending the whole time trying to drag Eric, her six-year-old who has a PDD-NOS diagnosis, off the field. “He wanted so badly to participate but he didn’t know how.” The Park Slope mom was thrilled to find out about this program, which takes over Downtown Little League’s field at Warren and West Streets every Saturday from 10am to noon. Each child is paired with a college-student volunteer, who helps teach the youngsters how to bat and run the bases. Free. E-mail PlayNewYork@gmail.com for information on the spring 2009 season.

I live in Dutchess County in Wappingers Falls where can I find activities for my special need child?
I think this is a GREAT article! I am the program coordinator for a nonprofit called KEEN New York (www.KEENnewyork.org) and we provide a free service to disabled children also. Every other week we play games, have dance parties, even play make believe. I love that there are so many organizations out there! I will definitely be referring our children to some of these programs.
Hey Jana, loved the article, keep up the fight.! Autumn's Mom - Sherron
