Cobble Hill’s popular teatime spot Sweet Melissa Pâtisserie now has a dulcet sibling. Like its neighbor, Sweet Melissa Crèmerie is a delightful temple of decadence. From the old-fashioned window display, resplendent with giant swirly lollipops and 1950s toys, and the scent of Belgian waffles that greets you upon entry, to the last lick of homemade Valrhona hot fudge, the Crèmerie is a feast for the senses. The Summer Camp Sundae is a seasonally appropriate kid-magnet: graham crackers, toasted marshmallows, hot fudge and fresh whipped cream atop rich Bassetts ice cream. Grown-ups, when not dipping into their children’s dishes, may opt for a buttery caramel-and-rum-raisin bread pudding sundae or the espresso-soaked coffee ice cream garnished with candied lemon peel. Baked goods from the Pâtisserie, such as homemade brownies and Peanut Butter Indulgence (layers of chocolate cake, peanut butter and ganache), make welcome guest appearances in the sundaes. All of these treats, as well as cones, malteds and egg creams, can be ordered to go, savored in the quaint, tin-ceilinged dining area or carried to the roomy garden out back.
